Milwaukee St Patrick’s Day Parade
Written on January 27, 2016
Shamrock Club downtown Milwaukee St Patricks Day Parade has been the largest parade of any type in Wisconsin for the better part of the decade. Since its return to downtown Milwaukee, the Shamrock Club and Westown have produced the greatest family friendly event of the season. We feature all of Milwaukee’s Irish dance schools, pipe bands, clowns, drill teams, marching bands, and most Irish organizations in the greater Milwaukee area. It was a spectacle to behold, and a very Irish display of our honor to St. Patrick, and a wonderful display of our Irish pride
The Milwaukee St Patrick’s Day parade will take place at noon. With 2300 participants, 140 units, it is the largest parade of any kind in Wisconsin.
The Parade is preceded by our Annual Mass in Honor of St Patrick at St Patrick Church in Milwaukee.
The we have our Full Irish Breakfast at the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center in Milwaukee.
It is followed by our Post Parade Party at the ICHC. It is the largest parade day party in Milwaukee, with 4 stages, six bands, four dance schools, and a children’s area.
In 1960, The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin started a revolution in the life of Irish Wisconsin. The organization started small, but eventually became the wellspring of Irish life and culture for much of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin. Where there was a void in the cultural side of life, soon the Shamrock Club would fill it with parades, Irish dancing, an Irish festival, scholarships, and so much more.
